Australian Cobberdog House

Australian Cobberdog puppies from an MDBA breeder in Spain

We have spent more than ten years raising Australian Cobberdogs. Before we talk about a puppy, we want to know what life with you would look like. Behind each litter are carefully chosen parents, veterinary care and many ordinary days spent helping the puppies find their feet.

MDBA

Breeders and members of the MDBA

Australian Cobberdog House is a member of the Master Dog Breeders & Associates (MDBA), breeder number 45027. The MDBA keeps the stud book and the standard under which the Australian Cobberdog is being developed.

Our breeding dogs come from MDBA lines in Australia, Canada and the United States. Use the official breeder-check process to enquire about membership, and ask us about the documents for a particular litter.

The Australian Cobberdog is known for its sociable temperament, its very low-shedding coat and the range of sizes within the breed. Those three things explain why so many families choose it as a companion dog, in a city flat as much as in a house with a garden.

How it works

How an Australian Cobberdog puppy comes to live with you

Four steps, always in this order. You can stop at any point before you reserve. The details are in the contract documents, which you receive before any payment.

  1. Step 1

Get in touch and tell us about your home

Tell us about your routine, your home and what you are looking for in a dog. We answer your questions directly and can discuss a video call when it is possible and appropriate.

  2. Step 2

    Choose a puppy

We tell you which litters are here or expected. Around week seven our ethologist assesses each puppy individually. With that assessment and what we know about you, we suggest the puppies we think could suit your home.

  3. Step 3

    Reserve

The reservation is 30% and is deducted in full from the final price. You receive the contract to read beforehand. While you wait we send photos and videos regularly.

  4. Step 4

    Handover

We agree the place and date after checking the puppy’s age, veterinary dossier and destination requirements. Collection in Spain or an accompanied journey to an agreed point may be possible. Commercial movement documents are confirmed separately from the passport.

What is included

What your puppy brings on the day of handover

The price covers the documents and veterinary work that correspond to the puppy's age and destination, plus the contract and our starter kit for the first days at home.

  • Microchip, and an EU pet passport where the destination requires it
  • Vaccinations according to age and destination, including rabies where required
  • Parasite treatment according to veterinary protocol
  • Veterinary health certificate, with a check before handover
  • Purchase contract with the guarantees expressly set out in it
  • A cloth carrying the scent of the mother and the litter, and the food the puppy is used to, with its feeding plan

Behind all of that sit the H639 genetic panel of every breeding dog and a socialisation programme that begins in the fourth week of life. We explain both on the pages Health and genetics and Our breeding.

Our breeding

More than ten years breeding Australian Cobberdogs

We came across the Australian Cobberdog more than a decade ago and decided to build our breeding programme around this one breed. Our first breeding dogs came from Australia; over the years we added lines from Canada and the United States.

We raise our puppies in Spain. Dogs from our programme now live with families in Europe, America, Africa and Asia. Each new international journey is assessed individually.

The way we work has not changed since the beginning: selection of the breeding dogs, veterinary follow-up, genetic testing and a socialisation programme for every litter, led by an ethologist and a biologist.

How we breed

Health and genetics

The H639 genetic panel, for every breeding dog

Before entering the breeding programme, each dog undergoes the CombiBreed H639 panel. It includes tests for inherited conditions, genetic variants and traits, with results used alongside the dog’s pedigree and veterinary assessment.

We use those results alongside pedigree, veterinary assessment and the other criteria of our selection programme. A genetic test reduces known hereditary risks; it is not a guarantee of a dog's health. If you want to see exactly what one looks like, we will gladly show you an example.

Beyond Spain

Families in Europe, America, Africa and Asia

Our puppies are born and raised in Spain, and a good number of them go on to live elsewhere. Over the years dogs from our programme have joined families in several European countries, in America, in Africa and in Asia. Each of those journeys was arranged one at a time, according to the puppy's age, the health requirements of the destination and the travel conditions, and always with the puppy accompanied. How that works, for the EU and beyond, is explained on the delivery page.

Price and reservation

What an Australian Cobberdog costs

The price depends on the puppy’s size, sex and, in some cases, particular characteristics. We give you an individual written quote before you reserve. Our prices include VAT, and we provide an invoice and a contract. Travel is quoted separately.

The reservation is 30% of the agreed price. We also consider support for families facing financial difficulties, especially where a child may benefit from living with a dog. We discuss each situation individually, without promising a discount or therapeutic outcome.

Let's talk

The next step is a conversation

Every family is looking for something different. Before we talk about a particular puppy we would rather know how you live and what you expect from your dog. Message us on WhatsApp, call +34 666 473 313 or leave your details in the form. When it is possible and appropriate, we show you the puppies on a video call.
